Every year people around the world celebrate the holiday seasons with family, friends, food and fun. December is a joyful time for many. For many it is a time to enjoy being together whether it be to celebrate Christmas, Hanukah, or Kwanzaa However, before these holiday traditions began people celebrated the Winter Solstice. People believed celebrating winter's solstice made the Sun God happy and hurried the coming of Spring and they celebrated this joyous time on the eve of the shortest day of the year. The Yule Log was burned and everyone danced and sang around the fire. Mistletoe hung from the doorways of many homes for good luck. Homes were adorned with evergreens. The Winter Solstice is still celebrated, by many cultures around the world and is also a part of the Wiccan religion. We have compiled these pages for you to peruse and enjoy!
