Sympathy Card Suggestions

Uncertain how to express your sympathy or condolences? Unsure of exactly what to say to comfort relatives, friends or associates? The loss of a loved one is never easy.  Your expression of sympathy provides a means of acknowledging the loss of life. The following are suggested messages which you may find helpful.

"I/we are sorry for you loss"

"You brought joy into our lives"

Other tips:

If you did not know the deceased very well, a short simple expression of sympathy is best.

If the deceased is a person that you knew very well it is proper etiquette to express how much the person meant to you and how much he/she will be missed by you.

It is always a good idea to use your last name when signing the card.  There may be friends or members of the family with a similar first name or who may not know you and it is comforting to them to know that others care.  

Whenever possible, it is a good idea to include your address on the back of the card.  This makes it easier for the bereaved to send you a note of appreciation for your thoughtfulness.
